Animation series used to be considered only for children. Cartoons like Action Man and Angelmouse were neither watched nor appreciated by adults.
However, the concept of anime has changed this somehow. Anime is a Japanese word for animation. The graphics and design of these series is unlike the conventional cartoon animation we see. It is more high-end than that.
Perhaps that is why these series are more popular and not just in Japan, but all over the world.
One such series that is quite eminent in the world of anime is Log Horizon, and the good this is it is making a comeback with its third season.
The Beginning of Log Horizon
First published in 2011, the author Mamare Touno became instantly famous for his creation. His fame and the popularity of the novel version compelled the illustrator, Kazuhiro Hara, to give it the wider platform of TV.
The story of the series revolves around a popular game, by the name Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game or MMORPG Elder Tale. The problems start when its eleventh extension pack is released. When the update is released and implemented, the millions of players logged in the game at that time get permanently trapped. It is because of their gaming avatar without any means of escape.
The plot captures the journey of the awkward and hesitant protagonist, Shiroe and his friends. The way they manage to stay alive as their online gaming avatar and learn to survive in the virtual world they are stuck inside.

Log Horizon’s Popularity
The plot of the novel is so new and refreshing. It gained popularly as soon as it was published on the web.
The series has been acclaimed into four manga adaptations. Manga is a Japanese word for graphic comics. With a total of 22 volumes for all four adaptations, I can say that it was well-received by the audience.
The anime conversion also received by the same kind of appreciation. From the first season till now, with 50 episodes released so far, people have not had their fill of this series.
Talks of the Show Being Terminated
Season 1 of the show had on October 5, 2013, and the next season premiered at the same time in 2014. With no updates for a third season for over 5 years, the fans were bound to think that their favourite show was cancelled.
Then there was the news that the author of the novel had been arrested for tax evasion. And with him being in jail, the story could not just go on. Although he has been cleared of the charges and paid the outstanding taxes, the fans were utterly disappointed with the news.
However, there is nothing to worry about now. Despite the wait being extremely long, the show is returning.
The Latest Season
After a long wait of almost half a decade, the creators have finally broken their silence on the third season. They have announced that it will release in October in 2020, however, this is a tentative date and there is a chance that the release might get postponed.
“Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table” is the name given to the newest instalment and it sounds rather destructive and intriguing at the same time.
The latest season is expected to follow the storyline of twelfth volume of the novel series with the same name Log Horizon: DORT. With a total of 12 episodes, which is almost half the episode count of the previous two seasons, the show will commence from where it ended last season without any time leap. This made me even more excited because I have not had my fill of Shiroe yet.
The cast is mostly the same, so you would be happy to know that all your favourite voices will be back to entertain you.
Hopefully, by October, the coronavirus pandemic would be curbed, and it would be just a thing of the past. Then you can enjoy the show with a house party for your friends and close family. I am sure once they watch an episode; all of them would become great fans.
